Blackburn Consulting’s geotechnical engineering practice includes geophysical investigation methods.  These methods typically include:

Blackburn Consulting often uses geophysical investigations to supplement other data (such as exploratory borings or trench data). We also use geophsyical methods where non-destructive investigation techniques are preferred, site access is restricted or difficult (such as on steep hillsides), or data specific to these types of methods is necessary (such as seismic velocity of soil or rock).  Blackburn Consulting obtains the following information through geophysical methods: 
  • Stratigraphy
  • Rock Quality/Hardness
  • Geologic Structure such as Bedding Orientation, Fractures, Faulting
  • Excavatability Estimates
  • Corrosion Characteristics
  • Groundwater Occurrence
  • Location of Utilities, Tanks, Boulders or Voids
