Joey E. Lopes Neighborhood Park
BCI provided geotechnical design services for this park improvement project that involved:
- construction of a cantilever market shade structure,
- hot mix asphalt parking areas, concrete flatwork,
- light standards,
- play structures,
- half basketball court,
- community garden,
- low impact storm water management system, and
- underground utility improvements.
BCI performed subsurface exploration, laboratory testing and borehole infiltration tests (percolation tests) to support geotechnical design. BCI provided recommendations for new hot mix asphalt and concrete flatwork pavement sections, foundations (shade structure, play structures and light standards), building code seismic design parameters, grading and trench backfill, and infiltration rates for storm water management system design.
This project won the 2016 Parks and Trails Project of the Year Award from APWA Sacramento.
