Southport EIP Levee Improvements

The Southport EIP project consists of improvements to about 7 miles of levee on the Sacramento River in West Sacramento to mitigate slope instability and underseepage deficiencies. Mitigation measures consist of a combination of new setback levee, slope flattening, seepage cutoff walls and seepage berms. BCI is the geotechnical design engineer for the project and has been involved since preliminary design began in 2010.   BCI has completed over 100 subsurface explorations, extensive laboratory testing and engineering analysis, and prepared numerous reports and technical memoranda for the project including:

BCI completed geotechnical evaluations for preliminary, 15% design, 65% design and 90% design within schedule and under budget.  The West Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency has also retained BCI to provide Quality Assurance materials testing during construction of the Southport EIP levee improvements.
